Join our Historical Gems Walking Tour, a delightful journey through the city’s lesser-known corners, led by a charismatic character guide who will bring Edinburgh’s hidden history to life...

Wander through secret closes, tucked away courtyards, and atmospheric gardens as you explore stories of Mary Queen of Scots, Robert Rabbie Burns, and literary legends like J.K. Rowling and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. You’ll even visit iconic Outlander filming locations along the way!

Along your adventure, you’ll be treated to a traditional taster of haggis fritter, neeps and tatties – a take on Scotland’s most iconic dish (can be made vegetarian). This will be paired perfectly and washed down with a warming dram of Glenlivet whisky, all served within the cosy atmosphere of – one of Old Town Edinburgh’s most characterful and welcoming spots!

And the indulgence doesn’t end there! Thanks to the iconic on the historic Canongate, you’ll also receive a delicious sample of handmade Scottish fudge and melt-in-the-mouth Tablet. Consider it a sweet tooth interrogation!

What To Expect

Historical Exploration:

Wander through Edinburgh’s cobbled streets and closes, uncovering hidden gems and tales of the city’s past with a knowledgeable character guide.

A ‘Wee Taste Experience’ at MacKays on the Mile:

Sit down for a warm welcome and experience a special stop at the welcoming MacKays on the Mile, where you’ll get the chance to investigate and savour:

  • A tower-shaped taster of traditional Scottish haggis fritter, neeps, and tatties.
  • A dram of Glenlivet – authentic warming Scottish whisky.

Sweet Scottish Treats:

Enjoy a taster of traditional handmade Tablet and Scottish fudge at the renowned Fudge House of Edinburgh. Pop in and see how the fudge is made behind the scenes, plus spend some time browsing the selection of fudges on offer. A sweet tooth interrogation no less!

Tour Duration: 2 hours

Not suitable for: People with certain mobility impairments.

  • Please arrive 5-10 mins early to check-in. ‘No shows’ will not be refunded.
