14th Annual Advocates and Allies Conference

The Petersburg Domestic Violence Taskforce proudly presents the 14th Annual Advocates and Allies Conference - Protecting Every Heart, Every Home, Every Paw, a half‑day gathering dedicated to strengthening safety, advocacy, and coordinated community response. This year’s conference brings together professionals, partners, and community members committed to supporting survivors, protecting families, and advancing justice for both people and animals.

Join us on October 13, 2026, at the Petersburg Public Library for a powerful morning of learning, collaboration, and resource sharing. Attendees will hear from leading experts whose work spans forensic interviewing, federal victim assistance, and animal law:

• Tracy Owusu, Forensic Interview Specialist, Victim Assistance Program – Homeland Security
• Keyanna Perkins, Victim Assistance Specialist – Homeland Security Investigations
• Michelle Welch, Senior Assistant Attorney General & Director of the Animal Law Unit – Virginia Attorney General’s Office

Our speakers will share perspectives from the Victim Assistance Program of Homeland Security Investigations and their experience supporting victims and witnesses involved in domestic violence cases.

Attendees will also hear about the work of the Animal Law Unit within the Virginia Attorney General’s Office, including how animal protection can intersect with domestic violence and family safety.

The conference will feature vendor resource tables, networking opportunities, and two spotlight rounds highlighting agencies serving the Petersburg community. Light refreshments will be available throughout the morning.
