The Festa celebrates Portuguese heritage and ethnic pride, creating milestones that help mark time. The 133rd Annual Freeport Festa will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at the IDES Portuguese Hall in Clarksburg.Since 1893, the Freeport/Clarksburg Portuguese Festa has been held on Trinity Sunday, (first Sunday after Pentecost) making it one of the oldest continuous cultural events in California.
The Festa begins on Sunday at 10:30am with a procession from the IDES Portuguese Hall to St. Joseph’s Church. During Mass young girls dressed in beautiful handmade capes and white gowns, representing Queen Isabel, are crowned.
After the church ceremony, the procession returns to the hall where everyone is fed a meal of the traditional “Sopas e Carne” (soup and meat of the divine Holy Spirit).
The festivities continue throughout the entire afternoon with additional Portuguese food for sale, two bars, a live and silent auction featuring handmade Portuguese goods, Portuguese merchandise for sale, historical exhibits, Bingo, games for the kids and more all in a beautiful park-like setting!
