🕯️ 13 CHARMS AGAINST MISFORTUNE 🕯️
A Friday the 13th Gathering
Friday, November 13th • 7:00 PM
The Secret Chamber House of Oddities & Artwork
For centuries, people have carried strange little objects to keep misfortune away.
Iron in a pocket. Salt over a shoulder. Bells above a doorway. Knotted thread. Protective herbs. An eye watching over you.
On Friday the 13th, we're gathering after dark inside the séance room of The Secret Chamber to explore the strange, secretive and sometimes downright bizarre ways people have tried to protect themselves from bad luck, curses and things better left unexplained.
Throughout the evening, we'll uncover 13 charms against misfortune and the folklore and superstition surrounding them.
Then you'll create your own protection spell kit and handmade talismans, choosing the objects, symbols and ingredients that speak to you. Take them home, hide them away, hang them near a doorway or keep them close.
What you do with them afterward is between you and whatever might be listening.
We'll share stories of wild superstitions from around the world—some familiar, some ancient and some so strange you'll wonder how they ever began.
There will be snacks, beverages, candlelight, strange conversation and time to wander The Secret Chamber after dark. We prefer most our events be 21 and up. This will be adult conversation and recreation.
And because there are very few places where spending Friday the 13th in a séance room feels like the perfectly reasonable thing to do...
we're celebrating it the only way we know how.
