The Glam Girls Charity Drive was started in 2012 with the aim of collecting essential toiletries for under-privileged girls and boys, thereby giving them a sense of self-worth.
There is no reason young children and teens should not have the right to basic necessities, feel good about themselves and have a sense of value, in spite of living in impoverished communities.
Over the past decade, we have managed to reach hundreds of young people across South Africa and for most, this is their only Christmas ‘gift’. This has been achieved through an annual charity drive in the form of a breakfast where groups of friends gather together to bring their bags and enjoy a lovely morning out. Most of the bags are distributed into rural areas where poverty is a harsh reality.
The Glam Girls’ mission is to spread the word and make people aware of the monthly essentials we all need. A small act of kindness can go a long way in making a big difference in a young person’s life. We will strive to grow this important initiative.
