The purpose of this event is three-fold; to raise awareness for the issue of veteran suicide, to show support toveterans and their families – those battling their mental health and those who have lost the battle, and to bring
in funds to support the 16+ H.O.O.A.H. WI programs available to all Wisconsin veterans.
The mileage is representative of the number of veterans who are lost to veteran suicide each day.
Unfortunately, the mileage has increased in the last year. This is largely attributed to the timing of the data, as
the 2023 report uses data from 2021, which was the first full year of COVID-19 regulations for social distancing,
isolation, remote work and the cause for many socioeconomic struggles
