"There’s more to Math than Pencil & Paper"

  • Come use your hands to do math creatively. Use trial and error to solve puzzles, build, and create with math in mind. Let's add Art to STEM, to make 'sum' STEAM."

"Power in Motion: Integrating Pneumatics and Electricity"

  • Explore how pneumatics and electricity drive the world around us—from everyday devices to cutting-edge innovations. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals, discover real-world applications, and build your own functioning systems. Whether you're into robotics, engineering, or just love to tinker, this is your gateway to creative, practical learning. Don't miss the opportunity to connect, learn, and harness the power of pneumatics and electricity!

"Wonders of the Earth"

  • Discover the mysteries of our planet and beyond through hands-on exploration and exciting activities. From the ground beneath your feet to the skies above, dive into Geology, Meteorology, and Astronomy to uncover surprising connections between Earth, weather, and the stars. Get ready to think like a scientist and see the world in a whole new way!

"Scintillating Lights"

  • In this activity we will find out what LASERs are, how they work, and we will use them to communicate to each other through optical fibers. Choose your favored color laser (available colors are red, green and blue) to send a message to your friend across the room without using your phone.

"Code Your Own Game on the Web"

  • Description: Learn to program in JavaScript, the language that is used by websites like Netflix, Reddit, Facebook, Amazon, and many others! Use your coding powers to build a browser-based game and learn to think like a Computer Scientist.

"Cause no harm: Nursing in a simulation setting"

  • Learn how nursing simulation helps students learn in a practice hospital setting, with realistic mannequin patients and actual hospital equipment so no one gets hurt!

"Solving Mysteries: One Photo at a Time"

  • Do you like a mystery? Come to our x-ray laboratory and conduct an investigation of your own. You will take and look at x-rays to reveal clues to your quest. Can you solve the mystery?

"Let's Crack the Case of the Missing Diagnosis"

  • Step into the role of medical assistants and other allied health careers by using chemical indicators to test for “disease” in simulated patient samples. You’ll be introduced to diagnostic testing (urinalysis, blood testing) and careers in medical assisting and outpatient lab science.

"Solve the Mystery, Escape the Health Information Technology Room!"

  • Get ready to solve puzzles, crack codes, and work together to escape the Health Information Technology (HIT) classroom before time runs out. This will be a fun and challenging way to learn about HIT and test your skills. Start preparing your mind. Can you escape in time?

"BRAAAAAINS: A Brainy Adventure in Dissection"

  • Embark on a captivating journey through the brain! Learn about the human brain’s different regions and functions. During this session, you will get the opportunity to get up-close and personal with the brain while completing a dissection of a sheep brain with a partner.

  • Learn the science behind dental cavities while you explore a career in dentistry with College of Lake County Dental Hygiene students.

"Fingerprint Detectives: The Chemistry of Clues"

  • Welcome, young scientists! In this activity, we will explore the chemistry behind fingerprints and how scientists use chemical reactions to uncover hidden clues. Fingerprints are made up of oils, sweat, and other substances your skin leaves behind. Forensic scientists use chemistry to reveal these prints—even the ones you can’t see with your eyes! In this activity, we’ll learn how special powders and solutions react with fingerprint residues to make them visible. You’ll get to try these techniques yourself, discover the different patterns on your fingers, and see how chemistry can help solve real-life mysteries. Get ready for some hands-on science and a closer look at the secrets your hands hold!

"Under the hood and around the car!"

  • Curious about what really makes a car go? In this hands-on session, you’ll get to explore what’s really under the hood — and even under the car! Try out real tools, take off wheels, see how a car runs on a chassis Dyno, experiment with diagnostic scan tools and much more. From the roar of a gas engine to the quiet hum of an electric vehicles, you’ll discover the science, technology, and fun that keep cars rolling!
