About this Event

Over the past six months, four strategically selected Canadian startups were matched with a cohort of PointB mentors to help them refine their business development strategy for the U.S. market.

Join us at MATTER for this in-person closing event. The four featured startups — Cobionix, Vessl Prosthetics Inc., Foqus Technologies and CliniScripts — will present their final pitches and share insights gained throughout the program. Following the presentations, please join us for the keynote address from Dr. Michael Bloom , Canada’s Global Executive and the Founding Director of the Center for Health Innovation & Entrepreneurship at Loyola University Chicago.

After the program, join us for a networking reception and refreshments.

ABOUT THE KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Michael Bloom, PhD
Dr. Michael Bloom is the founding director of the Center for Health Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CHIE) and clinical associate professor at Loyola University Chicago’s Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health. He also serves as a Canada Global Executive – participating in a program of the Trade Commissioner Service at Global Affairs Canada to connect accomplished leaders living abroad with Canadian enterprises needing strategic guidance.

Dr. Bloom joined Loyola from the University of South Florida (USF). As associate vice president for research and innovation, he oversaw system-wide engagement, innovation and strategic research initiatives, and supervised the incubation of more than 75 healthcare, medical device, and pharma startups in USF’s Tampa Bay Technology Incubator and Student Innovation Incubator.

He earned an M.A. and Ph.D. in Communication from McGill University in Montreal, where he was selected as a Doctoral Fellow of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.

Cobionix is a medical robotics company building AI-native systems to automate non-invasive clinical procedures outside the operating room. Founded in 2021, its flagship product, CODI®, is a collaborative robotic arm designed to integrate seamlessly with existing medical devices and clinical workflows.

Foqus Technologies is a med tech innovator transforming magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) through advanced software solutions. Their mission is to make MRI scans dramatically faster, more accessible and cost-effective for healthcare providers and patients. Foqus’s FDA-cleared solution leverages proprietary AI and quantum technologies to reduce scan times from around 40 minutes to under 10 minutes.
