Come join the solar squad as we celebrate the 10th annual celebration of the summer solstice in New Paltz's Stonehenge (Wooster Hall). Wooster was designed such that the sun's rays flood the north-facing grand staircase at exactly solar noon each day. Since 2017, each summer, we have gathered in Wooster to watch this display near the summer solstice, when the sun is closest and the days are longest. Note that this will be our final 10th anniversary solar event (Fall Equinox coming up witll be the 11th on record). So check out this brief, science-filled event. It will, per tradition, include a countdown to solar noon (12:58pm on 6/23) along with a singing of Here Comes the Sun. The event will begin at 12:15 with brief talks about the history of this event, the design of the building, the science of the event, and more. Hope to see you there!
