The event is FREE, but you will need to click on the "tickets" link to register via google form. A focused workshop and networking event for authors and illustrators exploring the synergy between text and visuals in storytelling.
We will explore successful collaborations between author and artist, illustrator notes and leaving room for artistic license, style, engagement and negative space. We will also set aside specific time for authors and illustrators to mingle, meet and network.
Everyone should bring paper and pen, or laptop, for note taking.
AUTHORS: bring your project ideas or manuscripts to share with illustrators during networking. If it's not written down, take the time to do so before the event.
ARTISTS: bring samples, or photos, of your illustration or artwork to show the authors. Your style should be on display so you can hopefully have a successful connection.
Author/Illustrators: you do it all, and that's lovely, but as I've learned there is never too much knowledge so come prepared to learn things you may not already know!
But it's not just about meeting the person you will need to collaborate with--NO! It's about being in a creative space and learning about the children's book industry.
