100 Things to See in the Night Sky (and on the Sun!) with Jeff Hutton

New Offering. Class held at the Berea College Planetarium at the MAC Building, taught by Jeff Hutton.

TWO DAY CLASS

Day 1 - 07/22: Introduction to the constellations year round. 1:30PM-4:30PM

Day 2 - 07/23: Introductions to binoculars and telescopes and where to point them! 1:30PM-4:30PM

Enhance your astronomy knowledge with special insight from the amateur star-gazer's perspective. Learn the major constellations visible at night as well as when and where to look for special events happening right above our heads! We just have to look at the right time!

Telescopes and binoculars will get special attention, along with suggestions on star gazing tools you can buy or build yourself. Some smartphone apps will be introduced. Mini-lecture, demo, story-telling, and more!

Instructor suggests that attendees bring a copy of the book,

'100 things to See in the Night Sky' by astronomer and former director of the Cincinnati Observatory, Dean Regas.This book will act as the guide for the class.

Weather permitting, there will be an optional guided 'moon and star gazing' in the evening hours, and safe solar viewing during the day.
