100 Hr Advanced Teacher Training Program in Vinyasakrama Yoga with Srivatsa

Vinyasakrama yoga consists of practising asanas with a variety of interrelated breath oriented movements called vinyasas. This was learnt by Srivatsa Ramaswami (87) from the legendary Guru Sri Krishnamacharya over a period of several years.There are 10 major sequences. They are further assembled into nearly 150 asana subroutines, totalling to some 700 vinyasas. In this program all the 10 major sequences will be gone through in the proper krama or sequence. In this in-person segment of 60 hours varieties of pranayamas and introduction to dharana meditation will also be included.Balance 40 hours will be devoted to study of yoga related sanskrit texts in detail.

Required Reading:
All students are required to have the following two books, which serve as the primary source material for this program:

1. The Complete Book of Vinyasa Yoga – Srivatsa Ramaswami
   2. Samkhya Karika – Srivatsa Ramaswami

These texts will be referenced throughout the training and are essential for a full understanding of the material. They are available on Amazon.

About the Teacher:

Srivatsa Ramaswami was a student of Sri Krishnamacharya for over 30 years. He studied from when he was 15 until almost the last days of his Guru. He had only one teacher and studied vinyasakrama yoga, various texts such as the Gita, yoga sutras, several upanishad vidyas, chanting of the complete Aranyaka and upanishad portions of yajur veda all from Krishnamacharya. Has recorded for Sangeeta a recording company nearly 30 sanskrit titles as Sundara kanda, Aswamedha, Taittiriya upanishad, Mahanarayana Upanishad. Has authored five books including Complete book of Vinyasa Yoga, Samkhya karika and others.Written more than 200 short articles in his monthly newsletters. Taught at Kalakshetra India for nearly 20 years and in summer for about 15 years at Loyola Marymount University Los Angeles. Has taught 100 and 200 hour Teacher Training programs in different places in India, UK, Europe, Canada, S America and USA.
