Thank you for your interest in planting a tree. ICT Trees is committed to maintaining and expanding Wichita’s urban tree canopy. Our trees are our first line defense against rising temperatures and extreme heat events.
ICT Trees has received a grant from Evergy energy company to distribute free trees to Wichita neighborhoods vulnerable to extreme heat events because of their location in or near urban heat islands. Urban heat islands are created when the built environment, sidewalks, streets, buildings, replace green spaces and trees. Neighborhoods near urban heat islands are significantly hotter in the summer than neighborhoods with tree cover.
Any trees not picked up by 3PM, Saturday April 11, at Emporia Park, 1143 N Emporia, will be given away on a first come, first served basis. We will ask for your name, address, and email address to receive a tree, if any are available at that time.
