07/22 Clay Handbuilding: Flower Press Vases
Advertisement
In this clay handbuilding class, you’ll create a slab-built vase from start to finish, focusing on clean construction and thoughtful form. Before assembling your vase, you’ll press fresh and dried flowers into the clay to create delicate, organic textures that become part of the surface design.
Once the vase is formed, you’ll refine the shape and details while learning proper scoring and slipping techniques to ensure a strong build. After firing, the pressed floral impressions will add subtle depth and character to the finished piece, resulting in a one of a kind vase that celebrates both clay and nature. No clay experience needed—just bring your creativity, and we’ll guide you step-by-step!
Pre-registration is required — each person in your group (including kids) must have a ticket.
What’s included:
Up to 1.5 lbs of clay per participant
Instruction in handbuilding techniques
Tools and materials for decorating your piece
Glazing and two kiln firings included
Additional info:
Want to sit with friends? Let us know in your order notes and we’ll do our best to seat you together
Class may be canceled if fewer than 5 people are registered 24 hours in advance; in that case, we’ll contact you and issue a class credit. Your finished pieces will be fired in our kiln and ready for pickup in about 3 weeks at The Firestone in Manchester, CT
