Create a stunning illuminated glass mosaic artwork in this immersive three-day workshop with incredible artist Dyan Melnik.
Using an 8x10 framed base, students will design and create their own glass mosaic inspired by landscapes, trees, light, and color while learning the techniques needed to cut, arrange, grout, and finish a beautiful display-ready piece.
Throughout this workshop, students will explore composition, color relationships, glass cutting techniques, and mosaic assembly while creating a one-of-a-kind artwork that will be fully grouted, framed, and ready to proudly display at home.
No prior experience is necessary—just bring your creativity and willingness to explore glass art!
Day 1: Design & Begin Building • Create your tree template and overall composition • Learn basic glass safety and cutting techniques • Begin cutting, shaping, and placing glass pieces • Start building your mosaic design
Day 2: Build & Refine • Continue cutting and placing glass pieces • Refine composition, color placement, and details • Troubleshoot spacing and prepare artwork for finishing • Complete mosaic construction
Day 3: Finish, Grout & Frame • Complete any final glass placement • Learn proper grouting techniques • Clean and polish your mosaic • Frame your finished 8x10 artwork for display
By the end of the workshop, students will leave with a completed framed mosaic artwork and the confidence to continue exploring the creative world of glass mosaics. This class is perfect for beginners, experienced makers, and anyone who loves working with color, texture, and light.
