Watercolor Foundations: Introduction to Watercolor Painting

Discover the beauty and versatility of watercolor in this beginner-friendly watercolor painting class. Over the course of four weeks, students will explore the essential techniques and materials needed to confidently begin painting with watercolor.
This class will introduce participants to basic watercolor materials, brush handling, and foundational painting techniques. Students will learn how to control water and pigment, create smooth washes, and build depth through layering and blending colors.
Through demonstrations and guided practice, students will explore key watercolor methods including wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques, along with basic color mixing to create a range of tones and hues. The class will also touch on composition, creating simple forms, and developing finished paintings, while learning how to properly care for brushes and watercolor materials.
By the end of the course, participants will have a stronger understanding of watercolor techniques and will complete several small paintings while building confidence. This class is perfect for beginners or anyone looking to refresh their watercolor skills in a supportive and creative environment.
