Actually, romantic comedy doesn’t even come close to covering this month’s mystery movie… It’s more like a synth-drenched fever dream from the early days of personal computing. By turns wacky, sincere, baffling, and hilarious, this utterly singular attempt to fuse rom-com and sci-fi boasts some great tunes, some genuine laughs, and a weirdly frenetic visual style that keeps things maniacally entertaining. Even though it has nothing to do with fallen soldiers, mattress sales, or barbecue, it’s still the perfect way to close out your Memorial Day and it’s an even more perfect entry in this month’s Arkadin theme, “The Computer Is My Frenemy”!
