Shorebirds are ecological indicators, reflecting the health of coastal ecosystems by signaling changes in water quality and food resources. These long-distance migrants rely on specific habitats and food resources for survival. Camp Pendleton's beaches and estuaries provide much needed food and rest for these amazing birds.
Wear comfortable clothing for sunny outdoor weather. Closed-toe shoes are recommended for walking on sand, and consider a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen for sun protection.
