Join this practical Intro to Navigation Workshop, designed for hikers/walkers who want to learn the fundamentals of map reading + compass skills in a friendly, supportive setting.
We’ll begin with a classroom session to build your understanding, then head out into the Peaks to put it all into practice on a route taking in Bamford Valley, Win Hill & Ladybower Reservoir.

• Understanding the map, scales & legend
• Grid references
• Map-to-ground & ground-to-map
• Pacing / timing
• Using phone maps effectively
🧭 Compass skills
• Orientating the map
• Compass on map
• Taking and following a compass bearing
