SUGARCANE is the first feature-length documentary from Julian Brave NoiseCat and Emily Kassie and it unfolds in Williams Lake First Nation, British Columbia, also known as the Sugarcane Reserve, or simply “Sugarcane.”
The film has earned multiple awards, along with an Oscar® nomination for Best Documentary Feature in 2025, making this the first film by an Indigenous North American filmmaker to receive an Oscar® nomination.
