🐾 BEST IN SHOW: True Stories About Our Animals

We love our animals. We also forgive them for things we'd never forgive a person for, build entire emotional worlds around them, and sometimes learn more about ourselves from a dog's bad behavior than a decade of therapy.
This month's Nutshell theme is Best in Show: true stories about the animals in our lives. Not the cuddly-wuddly Instagram version. The real one: funny, complicated, and sometimes tragic.
In these stories, a duck named Luna carries an entire love story. A stray cat with too many toes defines a decade. A "no pets" mandate spurns a secret pet shelter visit. And somewhere in there, someone grows suspicious of the endgame of canines and someone else meets the one dog that makes sure they never trust an animal again.
