About the Artists:
Colm Broderick is an award-winning uilleann piper from County Carlow. Immersed in traditional Irish music from a young age, he learned from local musicians before further developing his style through workshops and masterclasses around Ireland, grounding his playing in a deep respect for the tradition.
A multiple All-Ireland champion, Colm was awarded the Seán Ó Riada Gold Medal in 2021, bringing national recognition to his musicianship. In 2025, he was named TG4’s Ceoltóir Óg (Young Musician of the Year), acknowledging both his artistic excellence and his commitment to passing the tradition on to the next generation.
In 2019, Na Píobairí Uilleann selected Colm as custodian of the historic Rowsome set of uilleann pipes formerly played by Willie Clancy and Liam O’Flynn—one of the most revered instruments in Irish piping—an honour reflecting his sensitivity as a player and his dedication to the tradition.
Colm has performed widely in Ireland and internationally across Europe, North America, and Australia. A respected teacher, he regularly leads workshops and masterclasses, including at Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy. He has performed at Áras an Uachtaráin for President Michael D. Higgins and represented Irish traditional music on international stages such as Expo 2025 in Osaka.
Widely regarded as one of the leading pipers of his generation, Colm Broderick continues to shape the living tradition through performance, teaching, and a strong sense of cultural continuity.
Niamh Dalton
Niamh Dalton is an accomplished concertina player from Gneeveguilla, County Kerry, in the heart of the Sliabh Luachra tradition. Immersed in this distinctive regional style from an early age, her playing reflects the rhythm, ornamentation, and repertoire for which the area is renowned.
Niamh traces her musical heritage to her great-grandfather Thadelo Sullivan and her great-grandaunts Nell and Liz Sullivan, celebrated musicians in the United States, and draws inspiration from legendary Sliabh Luachra figures such as Denis Murphy and Julia Clifford.
A dedicated teacher as well as a performer, Niamh has taught for many years at the Killarney School of Music and is a tutor at Consairtín and Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy in Miltown Malbay.
Deeply committed to preserving and promoting the Sliabh Luachra style, Niamh continues to share this tradition with new generations and plans to bring its distinctive sound to audiences internationally.
