🎆 4th of July Pajama Party: A Sleepover Can Save a Life 🐾
This Independence Day, give a shelter dog the best gift ever: a soft bed, a quiet house, and a break from the noise.
Fireworks season is one of the toughest times of year for Detroit Animal Care and Control. Scared by the noise, pet dogs throughout the community bolt and get lost in record numbers — and the shelter fills up fast trying to house them all. The more kennels we can clear before the holiday, the more room we have to take in lost pets and reunite them with their families.
That's where you come in! We're looking for community members to foster an adoptable shelter dog for the weekend!
📅 Pick up: Friday, July 3 between 10:30 AM and 5:00 PM - the earlier the better
🕒 Drop off: Afternoon of July 5 (or keep them longer if you fall in love!)
What you get:
🐶 A grateful pup ready for snuggles
🦴 Collar, leash, and harness
🎁 A goody bag of toys, treats, and food
✅ A dog who's spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped
As a bonus, you'll help us learn what your foster dog is like in a real home — are they couch potatoes? Velcro dogs? Great with kids? That info helps us match them with their adopters even faster.
Please note: Foster dogs must be kept separate from resident pets for the full stay.
Ready to give a dog the best 4th of July of their life? No need to sign up. Preview all eligible dogs at www.friendsofdacc.org/adopt and help us clear the kennels before the fireworks start! 🎇
