Rondônia (comment je suis tombé amoureux d’une ligne) est un projet d’art et de recherche conduit par Emilio Azevedo, présenté à La Nombreuse du 26 septembre au 26 octobre 2025.
Entre archives militaires et arpentage du territoire amazonien, l’exposition déplie différents chapitres de l’histoire de l’État de Rondônia, en Amazonie occidentale, et évoque la manière dont cette région a été inscrite dans l’imaginaire et l’histoire matérielle occidentale.
Développée à la fois dans la région amazonienne et au sein de musées en Europe et au Brésil, l’exposition interroge les formes contemporaines du colonialisme, là où elles se prolongent et se transforment.
Basé à Bruxelles, Emilio Azevedo se penche sur les liens complexes entre représentation et pouvoir à travers l’image.

Rondônia (how I fell in love with a line) is an art and research project led by Emilio Azevedo, presented at La Nombreuse from 26 September to 26 October 2025.
Drawing on military archives and surveys of the Amazonian territory, the exhibition unfolds different chapters in the history of the state of Rondônia, in western Amazonia, and evokes the way in which this region has been inscribed in the Western imagination and material history.
Developed both in the Amazon region and in museums in Europe and Brazil, the exhibition questions contemporary forms of colonialism, where they continue and transform.
Based in Brussels, Emilio Azevedo explores the complex links between representation and power through images.
