Join East Coast Hikers for a beautiful morning exploring two of Newport News’ best trail systems! We’ll begin with the scenic 5-mile Noland Trail around Mariners’ Lake, then continue with the 4-mile Mariners’ Lake Natural Area trail system. Hike as much as you’d like, with a total distance of 5–9 miles.

We’ll meet next to the large monument in front of the museum, just outside the main entrance.
🥾 Distance: 5–9 Miles
⭐ Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
🐕 Dogs are welcome on a leash.
🚻 Portable toilets are available near the trailhead. The museum building opens at 9:00 AM.
💲 Free parking.
We’ll start with the full 5-mile Noland Trail, enjoying beautiful lake views, wooded paths, scenic bridges, and abundant wildlife. After a short break, we’ll continue on the 4-mile Mariners’ Lake Natural Area trail for those who want to complete the full 9-mile adventure.
Starting at 7:00 AM helps us beat the summer heat while enjoying one of the most beautiful, shaded trail systems in Hampton Roads.
💧 Bring plenty of water, bug spray, snacks, and wear comfortable hiking shoes. We look forward to seeing you on another East Coast Hikers adventure!
