? MOVEMENT IMPROVISATION
We will explore movement improv through different lenses: you with the space, you with an object, just you and your body, and lastly text and movement. It will be an opportunity for you to explore how improv and movement meet, how your imagination can surprise you in what your body is capable of. There is no prior physical requirement to attend this workshop.
This is about a deep curiosity towards the human body and its movements and I will guide you through a series of different tasks after which I am sure you will have found a new perspective towards movement practice and it may even enhance your expressiveness on stage as you perform with or without text.
All the tasks will be done from your own physical level and what you feel comfortable with. However at times I may give more challenging tasks if you feel you wish to jump even deeper into exploration.
? MATILDA LINDSTROM
Matilda is a physical theater artist and teacher, with a background of physical improv, mask theater, clown, floor acrobatics and contemporary/interpretive dance. Matilda has a 6 year experience of working in the field as a teacher, performer and director, both in California (where she also studied her degree at the university of Dell'arte International) and in Finland.
She was born in the archipelago, south Finland, raised in the world of nature, playful and simple countryside life. She grew up with a love for the arts. Drawing, music, and theater. Most of all passion for movement. In her art everything begins with the body and it is her greatest tool in creativity.
Improvisation has been with Matilda throughout her whole life and career as an artist. She sees it as a perfect way to be the most present and creative and she has made some of the best theater by generating material through improv.
Improv is challenging but at the same time extremely liberating. It makes us think outside the box. Matilda often, both as teacher and performer, uses improv to explore the space, to explore different props, and to explore the human body and partnering skills.
Now she is very excited to join Improteca Theater and explore more of the world of improv, see what the students create during the workshops, getting to be a student herself with masterful teachers, and above all to join an entirely new community of people and to get to know Romanian culture.
