Come discover the depth of sacred singing
Concert and optional singing circle
Sacred singing is much more than music. It is living memory, primordial vibration and an inner path. Since the origins of humanity, the voice has been a doorway into presence and the Divine. This evening invites you to enter the power of ancestral chants from different spiritual traditions, preserved in their original languages and transmitted from heart to heart, like an invisible thread crossing time. Chants that hold knowledge and beauty, capable of opening a dimension where sound awakens the heart and reminds us of what is essential.
In the first part of the evening, Sharif Castro will offer a meditative recital accompanied by Karolina Palica. It will be a journey through ragas from South India, Maronite chants from the Mediterranean Levant, Byzantine Orthodox chants from the Middle East, Gregorian chants from Western Europe, Zen dhāraṇīs from Japan, Sephardic chants in Hebrew, Georgian Orthodox chants and Baul songs from Bangladesh. Little by little, an inner journey of contemplation and transformation will begin to unfold. A sonic journey into the memory of a timeless spirituality, where music becomes a path of light and mystery.
After a pause, the second part will open a sacred singing circle accompanied by stories and short tales from the traditions of origin, so that each chant may arrive with its meaning, its image and its memory. Through simple and repetitive chants, shared listening and common resonance will create a space of presence where each voice can find its place within a collective vibration. The circle will include Kichwa-Lamista ícaros from the Peruvian Amazon, Vedic chants, Hindu devotional bhajans, Sufi litanies, Ojibwe power songs from North America and a Scandinavian folk song as a gesture of gratitude to the land hosting this evening.
No previous singing experience is needed; all voices are welcome in this space, where the voice comes to remember.

Sharif Castro · Path and Approach
Sharif has dedicated much of his life to the study and practice of different wisdom traditions, understood from a mystical perspective as paths of deep transformation. He has received formal training and initiation in five spiritual paths: Soto Zen Buddhism, Naqshbandi Sufism, Advaita Vedanta, Siberian White Shamanism of Tuvan tradition, and Amazonian Vegetalismo connected to Indigenous peoples of Peru and Colombia. This learning encompassed both their fundamental teachings and their forms of practice, including rituals and techniques for accessing expanded states of consciousness, with particular attention to the sonic dimension expressed through their chants.
His path also includes a more focused approach to other ancestral ways, centered above all on the practice of chant, with the presence of Christian traditions from the Middle East and the West, Hindu and Baul traditions from India and Bangladesh, as well as Indigenous traditions from North America and Brazil, among others. Throughout this journey, he studied and practiced in direct coexistence with teachers, shamans, and transmitters of those lineages.
His work arises from the place where these traditions meet and complement one another, guided by a vision of the human being in connection with nature, community, ancestral memory, and the mystery that sustains existence. From this understanding, reciprocity and responsibility arise as a deep duty toward the web of life of which the human being is part. In his practice, this bond is expressed through rituals and prayers lived from gratitude, reverence, and a sense of belonging.
Within this same horizon, contemplative silence, recollection, and certain meditation practices open a path of self-knowledge. Through them, vigilant presence and remembrance of what is essential are cultivated, sustaining his approach and becoming embodied in surrender and service.
Chant holds a central place in his work as a technology of the sacred, where body, breath, and voice join rhythm, attention, and intention to open an expanded form of presence. This practice is oriented toward the remembrance of the Divine, purifying the heart and quieting the mind. In its shared dimension, his proposal seeks to open a space where the perception of separation may soften and the heart may become more available.
Through retreats, ceremonies, recitals, singing circles, and workshops, he shares the legacy he has received and integrated through years of direct practice. His proposal remains open and alive, without becoming fixed as a closed doctrine. From a humble place, he accompanies each person’s inner path with care, without placing himself in a position of spiritual authority. His intention is to contribute to the return to a life deeply aligned with existence, where meaning, direction, and purpose may once again be revealed.
