A night of creative expression centred around themes inspired by trees and wood, influenced by what grows in our own backyards.
About this Event

Toasting the Trees is a new collaboration between the Tasai Collective and TWIG, that brings artists to the stage to share creative and expressive content related to trees. Tasai’s motto is “Friendship through collaboration” and over the years, trees have made their way into a handful of their public performances, both visually and metaphorically. For this event, we are taking a bit of a different approach away from the design, technology and business of wood and into the space of arts and culture.

This is event is created to get people connected to their love of trees (and wood) through a different lens, and for people in the wood industry to connect in a culture-focused space. We have poets, musicians, projection artists, improvers, writers and voice actors lined up to bring you a monthly event that features a different theme around trees. This event will be a monthly occurrence so check the schedule below for future events.

The first event will be themed around Douglas Fir specifically, the Old Growth wood that’s hidden behind walls and holding up buildings across BC and the world, along with being reclaimed and unfortunately sent to the landfill. The artists participating will be creating content inspired by the structural nature of this material which is globally recognized, and digging into their own research and relationship with this unique species of the Pacific Northwest. **We have some open spots for other participants so if you have something you want to play, show, share or tell then please reach out to [email protected]
