Adam Brookes is an author and a longtime foreign correspondent for the BBC. He has reported extensively from China, Indonesia, and many other Asian countries.

In 1933, facing the imminent Japanese invasion, curators evacuated a quarter-million objects from the Forbidden City. In the next 16 years, China’s imperial art collection embarked on a perilous journey across war-torn landscapes. Adam will discuss his book and the research behind this remarkable feat of cultural preservation.

季風書園在2025年的第一場季風人文講壇非常榮幸地邀請到著名作家、前BBC資深記者Adam Brookes與我們分享他的作品《Fragile Cargo》。Brookes先生將為我們揭開一段鮮為人知的歷史悲壯篇章：1933年，面對日本侵略的威脅，故宮博物院的策展人們展開了一場驚心動魄的文物大撤離。在接下來的16年裡，數十萬件皇家珍寶踏上了穿越戰火紛飛的中國大地的漫漫征程。
