【DX設計館】《數位情感》對談系列第4彈 : 數碼藝術的節慶、機構與公共空間
數碼藝術，應該存在於哪裡？在美術館與畫廊之中？在城市街道和公共空間裡？還是滲透於我們每天經過的場景與生活之中？
當數碼藝術逐漸走出展覽空間，進入城市、建築與公共領域，展示作品的方式亦隨之改變。互動裝置、場域特定創作，以及結合科技的藝術實踐，不僅改變觀眾的觀看方式，也重新定義藝術與空間、機構及社會之間的關係。
本場對談將匯聚來自香港及國際藝文機構、藝術節與文化平台的策展人及文化工作者，共同探討數碼藝術如何被策劃、委約、展示及推廣，並分享如何透過跨界協作與文化交流，建立支持數碼藝術發展的生態系統。

【DX design hub】’Digital Emotions’ – Digital Talk Series IV: Festivals, Institutions and Public Spaces for Digital Art
Where dose digital art belong? In museum and galleries? On Building Facades? In Public squares? Or embedded within the everyday rhythms of the city?
As digital and media art continue to expand beyond traditional exhibition spaces, new questions emerge around how these works are commissioned, presented, and experienced. Interactive installations, site-specific interventions, and technology-driven artworks often require more than a white cube, they demand new platforms, new audiences, and new ways of thinking.
This talk brings together curators, festival directors, cultural leaders, and arts practitioners from Hong Kong and beyond to discuss the ecosystems that support digital art today, and the collaborations that shape its future.

About the Moderator:
Vennes Cheng | Scholar and Curator, Division of Arts and Machine Creativity, HKUST
Dr Vennes Cheng is a scholar and curator based in Hong Kong.
Cheng is currently a faculty member at the Division of Arts and Machine Creativity, HKUST, and previously served as an associate curator at M+. Her research specialises in contemporary art of Hong Kong and the region. Her scholarship critically examines the politics of memory and the evolution of the archive—a trajectory established in her 2024 monograph, Archive as Detour. Her current research shifts to the computational life of the past, analysing how machine intelligence and immersive technologies—AI, VR, and XR—function as instruments of generative truth. By investigating how these technologies re-encode historical trauma and urban memory as live, affective experiences, she maps the emergence of a new, adaptive archival architecture.
Cheng is a former research fellow at the documenta institut and a recipient of an honorable mention of the 2023 Journal of Visual Culture Early Career Researcher Prize.
About the Panel:
𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹 𝗧𝗮𝗺 | Executive Director, Performing Arts, WestK
Paul Tam has served as Executive Director, Performing Arts, at the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WestK) in Hong Kong since March 2020. Spanning 40 hectares of reclaimed land along the iconic Victoria Harbour, WestK stands as one of the world’s most ambitious cultural projects – a dynamic blend of arts, education, open space, hospitality, commercial and lifestyle experiences. In his role, Paul leads the Performing Arts Division, which oversees two flagship venues – the Xiqu Centre and Freespace – and is guiding the development of the WestK Performing Arts Centre, scheduled to open in 2027. He is responsible for shaping the Division’s strategic vision and sustainable growth, directing its artistic, programming, operational, financial, fundraising and business affairs. The Division’s portfolio embraces an extraordinary range of disciplines, from Chinese opera, theatre and dance to music and community learning initiatives.
Paul currently serves as a Director of the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA), a Board Member and former Chairman of the Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association (HKAAA), a Governor of the Federation for Asian Cultural Promotion (FACP), and an Advisor to Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF).
𝗠á𝗿𝗶𝗼 𝗞𝘂𝗻𝗼𝘃𝘀𝗸ý | Former Head of Programme Department, Signal Festival
Mario Kunovsky is a cultural manager and curator specializing in contemporary art, design, and digital culture. He holds a degree in Scandinavian Studies and began his career as Programme Coordinator at the Czech Centre in Stockholm.
He later joined the Prague Quadrennial, the world's leading international event dedicated to performance design and scenography, where he managed its flagship exhibition showcasing national pavilions from around the world.
For the past six years, Mario has served as Head of Programme at Signal Festival, one of Europe's leading festivals of digital and new media art. In this role, he has co-curated the festival programme, led international collaborations and strategic projects across Europe and Asia, and played a key role in establishing Czechia's first permanent gallery dedicated to digital art.
Currently, Mario manages a range of international and public programme projects for Designblok Prague, the largest design and fashion event in Central and Eastern Europe, contributing to its year-round activities and annual festival programme.
𝗝𝗼𝗲𝗹 𝗞𝘄𝗼𝗻𝗴 | Programme Director, Microwave International New Media Arts Festival
Joel Kwong is an international media art curator, producer, and writer based in Hong Kong. She is the Programme Director of the Microwave International New Media Arts Festival and the founder of SIBYLS, a creative consultancy focused on art and technology. With nearly two decades of experience across Asia, her practice bridges media art, performance, digital culture, and technological innovation. She actively engages in global art-tech discourse as curator, speaker, researcher, and jury member.

Jason Dembski - Co-founder of HKwalls
Jason Dembski is an American designer, curator, and co-founder of HKwalls, Hong Kong’s celebrated non-profit organisation and annual street art festival. With a professional background in architecture and a deep fascination with the built environment, Dembski arrived in Hong Kong in 2009 and co-founded HKwalls in 2014 with the goal of transforming the city's walls into canvases for artistic expression. Working closely with fellow directors Maria and Stan to drive the festival’s strategy and artistic production, he has overseen the evolution of HKwalls from a local initiative into a major cultural force. Today, the organisation engages a global network of artists alongside local communities and property owners to reshape Hong Kong's urban landscape.
Maria Wong – Managing Director of HKwalls
Maria Wong is a Hong Kong-based curator, art producer, and the Managing Director of HKwalls. With a diverse professional background spanning the local film industry, independent theatre, and non-profit cultural charities, Wong joined HKwalls in 2014 to oversee its curation, business operations and drive its financial and strategic growth. Working to make the creative process accessible to all, she has helped shape the organisation into a year-round cultural platform that connects artists, communities, and partner organisations through high-quality public art. From producing HKwalls’ signature annual street art festival every March to launching programming for artists' career development, she plays a central role in cultivating Hong Kong’s creative community while championing originality and freedom of expression.
𝗗𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗣𝗼𝗼𝗻 | Program Director, Videotage
Doris Poon is the Programme Director at Videotage. With over a decade of experience in the arts and cultural sector, including roles at Para Site, Asia Society Hong Kong Center, and the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong, she considers organisation-led initiatives a vital form of curatorial practice and is committed to advancing the media art community by creating commissioning opportunities for artists and by stimulating critical discussion around technology.
Poon graduated from the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong in 2011 and earned her master’s degree in Visual Sociology at Goldsmiths, University of London in 2019.
