Om verket
Study of Slope är en platsspecifik performance-installation som framförs av en kör bestående av tondöva/självutnämnda icke-musikaliska sångare, i ett hav av nässlor.
Lina Lapelytė undersöker obalans och det skeva genom att lyfta fram personer utan ”musikaliskt gehör” och ifrågasätta de dominerande normerna inom västerländsk musiktradition, som ofta utesluter röster som inte passar in.
Lina Lapelytė är internationellt erkänd för sin genreöverskridande praktik där hon obehindrat rör sig mellan performance och experimentell musik, populärkulturella referenser och frågor kring könsnormer. Hennes mest kända verk är operaperformancen *Sun & Sea* (i samarbete med Rugilė Barzdžiukaitė och Vaiva Grainytė), som belönades med **Guldlejonet vid Venedigbiennalen 2019**, och som sedan dess turnerat världen över – inklusive ett uppmärksammat gästspel på Malmö Konsthall 2021.

About the work
Study of Slope is a site-specific performance installation performed by a choir of tone-deaf/self-proclaimed non-musical singers, in a sea of nettles.
Lina Lapelytė explores imbalance and the skewed by foregrounding voices without “musical hearing,” questioning the dominant norms of Western music traditions that often exclude those who do not fit in.
Lapelytė is internationally recognized for her genre-crossing practice, moving effortlessly between performance and experimental music, popular culture references and questions of gender norms. Her most renowned work is the opera-performance Sun & Sea (in collaboration with Rugilė Barzdžiukaitė and Vaiva Grainytė), which received the 🏆 Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale in 2019 and has since toured worldwide – including a celebrated presentation at Malmö Konsthall in 2021.
