(NL) De Sloveense pianiste en componiste Kaja Draksler combineert compositie en improvisatie, baseert zich daarbij op heel uiteenlopende stijlen, locaties en periodes uit de geschiedenis en laat zich inspireren door de mogelijkheden en het talent dat ze aangereikt krijgt van haar kleurrijke, internationale octet. De groep bracht ondertussen verschillende succesalbums uit, zoals Gledalec (2017), hun tweede plaat Out for Stars - met de poëzie van Robert Frost - en In Time, waarvan de teksten werden geschreven door Matsuo Basho.
Met haar octet wil Kaja Draksler een aantal van de ideeën verwezenlijken uit haar studies jazz en klassieke compositie, en uit haar ervaringen als actieve improvisator.
(EN) The Slovenian pianist and composer Kaja Draksler combines composition and improvisation, based on a wide range of styles, locations and historical periods, and draws inspiration from the possibilities and talent provided by her colourful, international octet. In the meantime, the group has released several successful albums, including Gledalec (2017), their second record Out for Stars - featuring the poetry of Robert Frost - and In Time, the lyrics for which were written by Matsuo Basho.
With her octet, Kaja Draksler wants to implement a number of her ideas from her jazz and classical composition studies, and from her experiences as an active improviser.
