About this Event

Join WBUR and friends for a series of live tapings of your favorite podcasts. Meet the people who are shaping the podcast landscape and be the first to hear their next episode, get a sneak peek of audio left on the cutting room floor or dig deeper into the stories that captivated you.

As we reach the peak of the semiquincentennial celebrations, “This Day,” a history podcast from Radiotopia, brings their year-long series “50 Weeks That Shaped America” to the CitySpace. Join Jody Avirgan (FiveThirtyEight, 30for30, TED) and historians Nicole Hemmer (Vanderbilt University) and Kellie Carter Jackson (Wellesley College) for a conversation about the nation’s founding and the stories that shaped our path over 250 years.

They'll be joined by A.J. Jacobs, journalist, lecturer and human guinea pig, who has written four bestselling books including, “The Year of Living Constitutionally.” This special live taping will be a great way to kick off your runup to a historical July 4th.

Copies of Jackson’s book “We Refuse: A Forceful History of Black Resistance,” Hemmer’s book “Partisans: The Conservative Revolutionaries Who Remade American Politics in the 1990s” and “The Year of Living Constitutionally” will be available to purchase from our bookstore partner Brookline Booksmith and the authors will sign following the conversation.
