‘Don’t Create the Torment Nexus’: Conversations Between Church, Society and Science FictionHosted by the Diocese of Newcastle’s Continuing Ministerial Formation (CMF) group, this monthly seminar series takes place on the first Thursday of each month, exploring the rich and surprising intersections between theology and other disciplines.
Join Dr Simon Morden on Thursday 2 October for ‘Theology& Science Fiction’, gathering at 3:30pm for a 4pm start.
Simon trained as a planetary geologist and geophysicist, realised he was never going to get into space and decided to write about it instead. His award-winning career blends narrative science, science fiction, fantasy and horror. He is a past winner of the Philip K Dick Memorial Award for his Metrozone series of novels set in post-apocalyptic London, and the Rolls-Royce Science Prize for school science education. He lives in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, with his cats and wife.
This event is FREE to attend, and all are welcome!
Booking essential; please RSVP by emailing [email protected]
Please note: This seminar will take place in an upstairs room at Newcastle Cathedral, which is accessible via lift. Details on how to access the space will be sent in advance.
