Mountain Goat and Jack Daniel’s present a special edition of Social Sanctuary, with Obscura Hail, Property and Private Mountain stopping by for a show.
Naarm/Melbourne based trio Obscura Hail perform their new album 'Playing Dead' (Dot Dash/Remote Control Records) at Social Sanctuary, NSC, July 1st. After letting the dust settle on their widely supported double EP ‘Siren’ (2020) "consoling, cathartic indie rock that will make you feel less alone" - NME, Sean Conran, Tamara Issa, and Kaelan Emond of Obscura Hail, return to mellow things down and return to roots. Amassing a fiercely loyal following, “The perfect song wraps the memories of the listener in those of the writer until you can’t tell what is yours and what isn’t" - The Guardian and widely supported across Australian radio, "Drawing on the power of memories, the Melbourne based trio have produced their finest work so far" - Triple J - Obscura Hail have performed alongside Kele Okereke (Bloc Party), Aldous Harding, Julia Jacklin, Cam Avery (Tame Impala, Pond) Soaked Oats, Bad Dreems and Hayley Mary to name a few, and have appeared at Brunswick Music Festival, Sydney Road Street Festival, By The Meadow Festival, Changes Festival, Kyneton Music Festival, Isol-Aid Festival & Bigsound 2019 + many more.
From the ruins of the housing market, amongst the rubble of the male ego, emerges the foundation for Naarm based Art-punk band PROPERTY.
Recluse rockers Private Mountain are back outside. Shaking hands, making small talk and borrowing lighters as they gear up for the release of their as yet untitled follow up to 2022’s “Optimism Cult”. Shifting through a variety of influences in expansive and cathartic fashion, the five (5) piece outfit are excited to be out of the house and back on stage at the Northcote Social Club.
