About the Walk:
As the city prepares to welcome Goddess Durga, join us for an immersive walk through the festive neighborhoods of Chittaranjan Park and Durgostab GK-2. Led by renowned cartoonist Jayanto Banerjee, the walk blends art, history, and lived traditions of the Bengali community in Delhi. This trail will explore how Durga Puja in the capital has evolved over the decades, while also providing participants with space to observe, reflect, and engage with its cultural heartbeat.
Walk Highlights:
Introduction to how the Durga Puja tradition took root in Northern India, particularly Delhi, and the role of community associations in shaping its growth.
A pause at Kalibari for participants to sit back, observe, and reimagine the festive atmosphere through their own creative lens.
Visit to the artist’s studio at the old Chandralok Cinema, offering insights into the artistic practice and engagement with the Puja spirit.
Trail concludes at the Durgotsab GK-2 Puja Pandal, featuring a short interaction with the organizing committee.

About Qissa Go:
A Lucknow native and alumnus of Christ Church School, Jayanto Banerjee began freelancing as a teenager before establishing himself at Target. Over the years, his witty, sharp, and evocative cartoons have appeared across leading publications. At the India Today Group, he contributed extensively to design and illustration projects spanning politics, business, and lifestyle, with many of his editorial cartoons also featuring in The India Today Book of Cartoons (2000).
He later worked with The Asian Age and retired from the Hindustan Times, where his work was a blend of satire, humor, and keen social observation.
