Concept Note
Anthropology, the discipline that takes a broad approach to understanding many aspects of human experience, found its place at the Faculty of Archaeology, Silpakorn University in 1974. Placing great emphasis on ethnographic fieldwork, the Department of Anthropology has been nurturing scholarly curiosity about human complexity and engaging in a variety of social and cultural issues through research and teaching for half a century. On our 50th anniversary, the Department of Anthropology and Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Anthropology Centre are hosting the International Conference on Anthropological Experiences. We aim to bring together scholars of anthropology, researchers, and policymakers from diverse backgrounds to foster dialogue and exchange knowledge on contemporary anthropological issues. Taking ‘experience’ as a focal point, the conference is organized into the broad themes of religion, ethnicity, health, and gender and sexuality. The scholarly discussions at the conference will explore and unravel the tension, discrepancy, inequality, and flow and fixity in the rapidly changing world.
