বিশ্ব চলচ্চিত্রের ইতিহাসে ইটালিয়ান নিও-রিয়েলিজম ফিল্ম মুভমেন্ট এক অবিস্মরণীয় অধ্যায়। দ্বিতীয় বিশ্বযুদ্ধের শেষার্ধে এর যাত্রা শুরু হয় এবং পঞ্চাশের দশকের সূচনালগ্নে এর পরিসমাপ্তি ঘটে। পরবর্তীতে পৃথিবীর নানা প্রান্তে সংগঠিত বহু চলচ্চিত্র আন্দোলন এর দ্বারা প্রভাবিত হয়েছিল।আজ বহুল আলোচিত “অলটারনেটিভ সিনেমা” কিংবা “অলটারনেটিভ ফিল্ম মুভমেন্ট”-এর আঁতুড়ঘর বলতে যদি কিছু থাকে, তবে তা হলো এই আন্দোলন। বিশ্ব চলচ্চিত্রের মহাসড়কে যাত্রা শুরু করতে এবং চলচ্চিত্র নামক শিল্পমাধ্যমটির সঙ্গে আত্মস্থ হতে নিও-রিয়েলিজম সম্পর্কে জানার বিকল্প নেই।
এই বিষয়টিকে মাথায় রেখে বিবলিয়ন আয়োজন করেছে নিও-রিয়েলিজম ফিল্ম মুভমেন্ট বিষয়ক একটি পাঠচক্র এবং ভিট্টোরিও দে সিকার কালজয়ী চলচ্চিত্র Bicycle Thieves এর বিশেষ প্রদর্শনী।
পাঠচক্রটি সঞ্চালনা করবেন চলচ্চিত্র লেখক ও সমালোচক আশিক মাহামুদ।

In the history of world cinema, Italian Neo-Realism film movement stands as a significant chapter. It began in the final phase of the Second World War and came to an end in the early 1950s. Many film movements that later emerged across different parts of the world were influenced by it.
If there is a point of origin for what is widely known today as “alternative cinema” or the “alternative film movement,” it can be traced back to this movement. To begin a journey into world cinema and to engage meaningfully with film as an artistic medium, an understanding of Neo-Realism is essential.
With this in mind, Biblion is organizing a Study Circle on the Neo-Realism film movement along with a special screening of Vittorio De Sica’s timeless classic Bicycle Thieves.
The session will be facilitated by film writer and critic Ashik Mahamud.
