حَدِيثُ الرُّوحْ WHISPERS OF THE SOUL

On February 27, Illarra and Hikaya band will host حَدِيثُ الرُّوحْ WHISPERS OF THE SOUL, a music concert dedicated to the beauty of Sufi music reimagined in a jazz fusion context. This show will be played by Hikaya Band members led by the music director Peter Henry Holbrook.

In this concert, we will take the journey of navigating Alama Iqbal masterpiece, Jawab-e-Shikwa [Response to The Complaint] as translated by Assawi Shalaan (Arabic) and Arthur John Arberry (English). This concert will also play pieces written by Alharraq, Bahauddin Zuhair, Abumadyan Attalmasani, Rabia al Adawiyyah, and others, some originally composed by Illarra and others that are part of the Sufi repertoire. Come and enjoy the rich tradition of Arabic poetry told in a modern interpretation.

This is a one-hour performance with no breaks or intermission. Doors will open at 8pm, concert will start at 9pm and will end at 10pm.
