Поминальна субота перед М'ясопусною неділею
Божественна Літургія із панахидою буде служитися у суботу 22 лютого об 11:30 год
Молитва за покійних є невід’ємною складовою нашої християнської віри. Вона може допомогти покійним швидше пройти їхній шлях очищення і швидше осягнути бажану мету людського життя – вічне щастя і споглядання Божого обличчя.

Згадуючи померлих у кожну суботу тижня, маємо ще в нашому церковному році деякі суботи, церковні богослужби яких цілковито присвячені молитвам і поминанню померлих. Ті суботи звемо задушними, або поминальними. До них належить субота перед М’ясопусною неділею, друга, третя і четверта субота Великого посту та перед Зеленими святами.
М’ясопусна неділя згадує день Страшного Суду. І тому в суботу перед тим молимося „за всіх від віків померлих християн”, тобто за всіх тих, які коли-небудь і де-небудь померли або загинули, про кого, може, ніхто ніколи не молиться, щоб усі вони могли стати на Страшному Суді по правиці вічного Судді.
Святий Йоан Златоуст, який жив на межі IV та V століть, заохочував до молитви за померлих: «Допомагаймо їм і пам’ятаймо про них. Якщо сини Йова були очищені жертвою свого батька, то чому ми маємо сумніватися в тому, що наші жертви за померлих приносять їм певне заспокоєння? Не вагаймося допомагати тим, хто помер, і жертвуймо за них свої молитви».

Memorial Saturday before Meatfare Sunday

Prayer for the deceased is an essential part of our Christian faith. It can help them complete their purification and reach their ultimate goal—eternal happiness and the contemplation of God.

Every Saturday, we remember the departed in prayer. However, there are special Saturdays in the Church year dedicated entirely to commemorating the dead. These are called Memorial Saturdays. They include the Saturday before Meatfare Sunday, the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of Lent, and the Saturday before Pentecost.
Meatfare Sunday reminds us of the Last Judgment. That is why, on the Saturday before it, we pray “for all Christians who have ever died”—for those who passed away long ago and those who may have no one to pray for them. We ask that they may stand at the Last Judgment on the right side of the Eternal Judge.
St. John Chrysostom, who lived at the turn of the 4th and 5th centuries, encouraged prayer for the departed:
"Let us help them and remember them. If Job’s sons were purified by their father’s sacrifice, why should we doubt that our sacrifices for the dead bring them comfort? Let us not hesitate to aid those who have died and offer our prayers for them."
