It is time to chant from the sage’s seat, at the spring of Urðr. I saw and I was silent, I saw and I pondered, I listened to the speech of men, I heard them discuss runes. They weren’t silent with counsels at Hávi’s hall. In Hávi’s hall, I heard it said thus . . .Come and hear the saga of King Thorri, son of Fornjot, who held a sacrifice every year at midwinter that the people called Thorri’s sacrifice; from that the month of Þorri, which some people now call January, took its name.
Join the Shire of Stonegate and our partners from the Idaho State University Medieval Club for Þorrablót, an Icelandic mid-winter feast and skaldic celebration of Viking* heritage and culture. Feast with us on Viking fare, play Viking games, and learn something new about Viking culture and arts.
We encourage skalds and bards to come before the populace to recite poems and sing songs in honor of Thor.
In the spirit of Thorri and his sacrifice for the good of the community, this gathering will be of no cost to the attendees, including the feast.
