Öffentliche Probe Makeda und Calypsonic

In these difficult times, marked by global restrictions on press freedom, crises, wars, disinformation, and increasingly complex forms of digital manipulation, we are delighted to provide the musical opening for the important and magnificent “Global Media Forum 2026” hosted by Deutsche Welle and to present the sounds of Trinidad and Tobago, thereby bringing positive and constructive energy to this conference.
The Calypsonic Steel Orchestra, led by @jonasploeger and @yleonlorenz, is one of Germany’s leading steel bands, enjoying recognition even in the homeland of the steelpan. At the „Global Media Forum 2026“, we will perform alongside the German-Trinidadian artist @makedamusic. Together, we will take the audience on a musical journey to Trinidad and Tobago and tell the story of the steelpan through the song „Steel Band Music“ by the grandmaster Lord Kitchener and the Soca hit “DNA“, combined with a little „Sugar Bum Bum“, arranged by Leon.
