Join us for the Global Party of The Year as ¡Globalquerque! Celebrates 20 Years of bringing the world to New Mexico! And it is FREE!Our first announced acts are an astounding array of unique talent and 'artivism'! Check it:
Bia Ferreira is a Brazilian singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and artivist. Her music, which she defines as "MMP — Música de Mulher Preta" (Black Woman Music) - discusses topics such as feminism, anti-racism, homophobia and love all harnessed to a blend of funky beats, reggae and soul ballad grooves.
The all-Amazigh (Berber) Tarwa N-Tiniri are a five-piece desert blues band from Ouarzazate, Morocco. Their name means "sons of the desert". “We are the desert generation, the generation that must accept the responsibility of restoring the desert people’s culture, dignity and confidence.”
Senegalese singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Cheikh Ibra Fam recently launched his solo career after a 6-year sting with the legendary Orchestra Baobab. Incorporating modern hip-hop and R&B beats, alongside distinctly Afrobeat horns Ibra Fam is engaged in social and cultural causes in Africa and around the world.
Yeison Landero was born in San Jacinto (Bolívar), Colombia. Known as “el heredero de la cumbia” – the heir to cumbia, his 'cumbiambero" heart was inherited from his legendary musician grandfather, Andrés Landero, who arguably invented what we know today as cumbia, writing and singing lyrics that championed the lives of rural Native and Black campesinos. Now it is Yeison's turn to take the tradition forward with his unique style.
More acts to be added....
It all takes place on Civic Plaza in Albuquerque, New Mexico on September 20! Did we mention it is FREE?
