Groove to the live tunes of Lulada Club and master your moves with expert dance instruction by Nieves Latin Dance Studio. You’ll also enjoy an international cross-section of dance music by DJ Mickey Pérez.
Join us as the High Line transforms from a park to an open-air dance floor where New Yorkers and visitors come together to enjoy the sounds of local salsa legends and learn dance moves from the best in NYC. Whether you’re an experienced salsa dancer or just excited to learn, come join us for ¡Arriba! and see why it’s the High Line’s longest-running public program.
This intergenerational event is free and open to all ages.

Bio
DJ Mickey Perez
Chicago-born & Miami-raised, Mickey Pérez is a first-generation American of Cuban & Ecuadorian descent who’s been synthesizing New York City dance floors with rhythms from the Caribbean, South America & the global Black diaspora since 2008. A Brooklyn resident since 2002, Mickey represents & presents a non-commercial, diasporic sound irrespective of national borders spanning many different styles of dance music across Africa, the Caribbean, South & North America specifically. Since 2020, Mickey has held a monthly 2-hour radio show on NYC's The Lot Radio titled Radio BeBop Porú, which runs concurrently as a dance party & forthcoming record label based in Brooklyn. In 2022, he launched a community-based summer music series for all ages with Toribio (Conclave/BDA) called Public Service that runs monthly across neighborhood parks throughout Brooklyn.
Lulada Club
Lulada Club is a groundbreaking all-women salsa ensemble redefining the golden era of Latin dance music with a fresh, soulful edge. Founded by Andrea Chavarro and Katherine Ocampo, two Colombian American musicians, the group channels the power of visibility and representation into every performance—celebrating Latin heritage while reimagining it for a new generation. Since its inception, Lulada Club has electrified stages at iconic institutions including Lincoln Center and the Smithsonian Museum, where they honored Celia Cruz during the unveiling of her U.S. quarter. Their recognition as the first all-women salsa band featured in Rolling Stone marked a historic milestone for gender equity in Latin music.
Nieves Latin Dance Studio
Nieves Latin Dance Studio is a prominent dance school located in New York City, known for its focus on Latin dance styles like Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, and cha-cha-cha. Established in 2012 by Wil Nieves, the studio has become a popular destination for dance enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. The studio's mission is to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where students can learn to dance while having fun.
