Ostravské centrum nové hudby uvádí v DOX+ další ze série 𝒛𝒂́𝒔𝒂𝒅𝒏𝒊́𝒄𝒉 koncertů. Východiskem programu se tentokrát stala osa Ostrava – New York, na které se už čtvrt století propojují skladatelé a interpreti z celého světa a která přitahuje publikum jak domácí, tak zahraniční. Svědkem komunikace transatlantické avantgardy bude letos i pražské publikum: Alvin Lucier stál společně s Petrem Kotíkem u zrodu festivalu Ostravské dny (před více než čtvrt stoletím pracovali a rozvíjeli v New Yorku myšlenku Ostravských dnů skladatelé P. Kotík, A. Lucier, Earle Brown a Christian Wolff). Na festivalu už má roky pevné místo Roscoe Mitchell nebo právě Petr Bakla a z nejmladší skladatelské generace se opakovaně vrací Anna Heflin. Richard Ayres je jedním z umělců, který vždy šel „proti proudu“ a v Ostravě realizuje svoje díla více než 15 let.
„Umělecká díla nevznikají sama od sebe. Lokalita, která umožňuje jejich zrod, je s těmito díly vždy spojena. Takovou lokalitou pro hudbu naší doby je v posledním čtvrtstoletí Ostrava ve spojení s New Yorkem. Program koncertu nabízí jen velmi malou část z tvorby skladatelů, jejichž díla by bez osy Ostrava – New York neexistovala v podobě, v jaké je dnes známe.“ /Petr Kotík/

The Ostrava Center for New Music presents another concert in its 𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒍 series at DOX+. This time, the program takes as its starting point the axis Ostrava – New York, a connection that has brought together composers and performers from around the world for over a quarter of a century and continues to attract audiences both at home and abroad. Now, the Prague audience will also witness this dialogue of the transatlantic avant-garde. Alvin Lucier, together with Petr Kotík, stood at the very beginnings of the Ostrava Days festival (more than twenty-five years ago, the idea of Ostrava Days was developed in New York by composers P. Kotík, A. Lucier, Earle Brown, and Christian Wolff). The festival has long been home to Roscoe Mitchell and Petr Bakla, while the youngest generation of composers is represented by the returning Anna Heflin. Richard Ayres is one of the artists who has always gone “against the current,” and for more than fifteen years he has been bringing his works to life in Ostrava.

For music of our time, that place over the past quarter century has been Ostrava in connection with New York.
