👉 About the workshop and the teacher:
From Mistake to Flow – A Workshop on the Power of the Unexpected
Technique gives you a foundation. The unexpected brings your dance to life.
Whether we are dancing or moving through life, when something happens differently than we expected, we often feel the urge to correct it immediately. We call it a mistake, try to undo it, or judge ourselves for it. But what if that unexpected moment is actually an invitation?
In this workshop, we explore how mistakes don’t have to interrupt the dance, but can instead become the beginning of something new. By becoming curious about what emerges, rather than holding on to how things “should” be, you discover more playfulness, creativity, and freedom in your dancing.
This workshop is not about letting go of technique. On the contrary: a strong technical foundation gives you the freedom to play, improvise, and consciously choose how you respond to the unexpected. When technique and expression support each other, dance becomes not only something that is executed well, but something that truly comes alive.
We will play with small and big “mistakes” and experience how they can lead to surprising movements, deeper connection with your dance partner, and above all, more joy. Because when we stop pushing away the unexpected, space opens up for genuine connection and improvisation.
👉About the Teacher:
Bess is a professionally trained dancer and works as a performer in theatre productions. She teaches both solo and partner dance and, through her years of experience in different dance styles, she has developed a broad perspective on movement, improvisation, and connection. She is also active as an actor, where, just as in my dancing, expression is always at the heart of her work.
For her, the body and the voice are not tools to create something “perfect” or simply “beautiful”, but instruments to express herself and tell a story. From this perspective, there is much less focus on right or wrong, and much more on curiosity, authenticity, and connection.
This does not mean that technique is unimportant, quite the opposite. Technique gives you the skills and freedom to make conscious choices in how you move and communicate. When technique and expression come together, dance becomes more alive, personal, and meaningful.
This way of looking at dance forms the foundation of all her teaching. She invites people to move away from constantly trying to perform and instead discover what emerges when they move from presence, playfulness, and expression. This is often where the most surprising, vibrant, and connecting moments arise.
✨ The little WOWs:
✅ Amazing Zouk workshop
✅ The best Brazilian Zouk tunes with great DJs
