Join us for our second ever Zouk dance class series in Winston-Salem!Zouk is a Brazilian partner dance, done to a wide range of modern and latin music, known for its fun, flowing, graceful moves and options for close embrace to "wi-fi" and everything in between.
This class series is designed for beginners+. Even if you've got some zouk experience, join and help us build a zouk community here in Winston Salem! Taught by long time zouk dancers Andrew Pearson & Julia Barry.
The series will be progressive, but if you can't make every class, you'll still be able to learn and dance. Please note, you must have taken our beginner series in order to join the Intermediate classes< OR "test out" by arranging a private assessment prior to the Intermediate series.
Our plan (subject to change) is:
Class 1 / Jan 27: Zouk count & basic, cross-bodies (L & R), Single turns
Class 2 / Feb 3: Zouk count & basic, Viradinha ("little turn"), Lateral
Class 3 / Feb 10: Zouk count & basic, Soltinho (circular orbits), spinning top
Class 4 / March 3: Drills of beginner series, Double turns (from basic and spinning top), yo-yo w/ body rolls
Class 5 / March 10: bonus ("boomerang") turns, elastico to shadow position
Class 6 / March 17: Head movement in place, basic, and traveling;
reverse lateral
