Discover what really keeps a modern zoo running this half-term at Marwell Zoo
You're invited to go behind the scenes this May half-term and discover what really keeps a modern zoo running, as we're launching an exciting new event celebrating the many teams that help bring Marwell to life every day.
Running from 23 – 31 May, Zoo Wonders will give guests of all ages the chance to explore a different side of zoo life, shining a spotlight on the people, skills and operations involved in caring for the zoo’s 140-acre estate, supporting conservation projects and welcoming visitors year-round.
While animal care remains at the heart of Marwell, the event has been designed to showcase the wider network of teams working across the site – from maintenance, landscaping and environmental services to retail, catering, IT and guest experience.
Through interactive activities, behind-the-scenes facts and hands-on challenges, visitors can step into the world of the Marwell team and discover what it takes to keep a modern conservation zoo running.
Guests will be able to try tasks inspired by real roles across the zoo, including weighing animal feed, sorting recycling, stocktaking and problem-solving activities at the event’s Discovery Hub in the Secret Garden.
