Zonatan Dembélé & Bauke Meersman – A unique musical journey from Mali to BelgiumStep into a rich sonic landscape where centuries-old traditions merge with modern jazz.
Malian artist Zonatan Dembélé, known for his work with Rokia Traoré, Ben Zabo, and as a support act for Amadou & Mariam, brings to life the deep rhythms of the Bwa community. His music, rooted in the traditional Deni rhythms of Mali and Burkina Faso, blends African sounds with jazz and blues into a distinctive tradi-modern fusion.
He is joined by Belgian jazz saxophonist Bauke Meersman, a musician with a broad background in improvisation and collaborations. Meersman has worked with artists such as Ludovic Signolet and performed at Dunk! Festival, Jazz Leuven, and the Lotto Brussels Jazz Weekend. His music has also been featured on Radio Klara.
Together, Dembélé and Meersman create a musical dialogue between continents – a performance full of groove, tradition, and innovation.
