Born and raised in the quiet town of Pendeen, Cornwall, England, Zomboy’s journey to electronic music stardom was anything but traditional. Despite coming from a household devoid of musical influences, Zomboy first fell for the raucous rhythms of rock and metal in high school, cutting his teeth as a drummer in local bands. The sense of stage presence and performance energy he developed during those formative years would later prove invaluable when he transitioned to electronic music production.
Zomboy, a prodigious talent in music engineering and production, gained momentum before even stepping foot into university. A serendipitous event—a severe car accident—led to a settlement that equipped his home studio, transforming it into a musical hub for UK bands. Propelled by this opportunity, Zomboy left his barista job behind, focusing solely on his music studies at the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in London.
Life in London brought unexpected changes. Although initially resistant, a nudge from his housemates led him to produce two demo tracks reminiscent of Skrillex, uploaded onto Facebook more in jest than expectation. However, these demos ended up being more than a whimsical experiment—they caught the ear of SKisM, the founder of Never Say Die Records, who envisaged Zomboy's potential stardom.
Not long after, Zomboy was playing his first set at London’s iconic Ministry Of Sound, launching a swift and exhilarating rise to fame. Soon, he found himself touring across Europe and Australia, leading to his US debut at the legendary EDC Las Vegas. From there, Zomboy's audience has extended to nearly every continent, selling out prestigious venues like Red Rocks in Colorado and The Shrine in Los Angeles.
Under the banner of the Never Say Die label, Zomboy set the dubstep scene ablaze with smash hits including classics such as "Organ Donor" and "Game Time" (2011) along with timeless favorites “Terror Squad” (2013) and “Like A Bitch” (2016). These chart-topping tracks echoed around the globe, cementing Zomboy's position at the forefront of the dubstep scene with an astounding 750M streams across platforms and six placements in the overall Beatport Top 100. In 2022, he further asserted his industry influence by launching his own record label, Rott N’ Roll Records.
Zomboy's creative process is as innovative as his music. Labeled as creating "cinematic violence," he masterfully intertwines multiple roles in his projects. Known for his meticulous craftsmanship, Zomboy typically releases only one record per year, reflecting the deep-seated dedication he applies to his projects. Overseeing all creative facets of his brand, from music production to tour visuals, he embodies the true spirit of an artist, realizing his vision beyond music's confines.
From his unassuming beginnings to the zenith of dubstep, Zomboy's journey has been marked by audacity and resilience. Transcending conventions, he has established a unique space for himself in the music industry. While his roots are in dubstep, Zomboy consistently explores new directions, embodying the spirit of continuous evolution. As he continues his musical journey, he remains true to his creative vision, a testament to his identity as both a skilled producer and a dedicated innovator.
This is going to be one for the books!
